Our commitment
Southern Data Systems is committed to making our website usable by everyone, including visitors who use assistive technology such as screen readers, screen magnifiers, voice recognition software, or keyboard-only navigation.
Standard we target
We work toward the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, the standard most commonly referenced by the U.S. Department of Justice and courts when evaluating website accessibility under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
What we've done
We've reviewed this website against WCAG 2.1 AA and made a number of improvements, including:
- Adding a "skip to main content" link for keyboard users
- Fixing our contact form so labels are properly linked to their fields
- Adding descriptive text alternatives to images and icon-only links
- Fixing heading structure so screen readers can navigate the page logically
- Removing duplicate links so screen reader and keyboard users aren't sent to the same place twice in a row
- Adding visible keyboard focus indicators
- Labeling page regions (navigation, main content, footer) for assistive technology
Known limitations
Our contact form uses a visual CAPTCHA to help prevent spam. Visual CAPTCHAs are a well-known accessibility barrier for blind and low-vision users, and no amount of text description fully solves that — if you're unable to complete the form because of this, please call or email us directly using the information on this page, and we'll be glad to help.
Feedback
If you encounter a barrier while using this website, please let us know. We take reports seriously and will do our best to address the issue promptly. You can reach us by phone or email using the contact information in the footer of this page.
